Description
Grey heron - Graureiher - gråhäger
I'm very lucky to know about this spot in town It's a big pond in the local park and most of the avian inhabitants are mallards, of course. But there are also a few grey herons and some other interesting birds around. As they are very used to humans they let me get very close with the camera. It was a real joy to watch this heron hunting for goldfish and - occasionally - eating them.
The crop of this photo seems a bit awkward but it's the only one I could come up with. Further down there's a blurry mallard drake and above there would be some ugly rocks. But at least I didn't have to cut off anything important.
Technical data: Aperture f/8.0 - Shutter speed 1/1600s - ISO speed 400 - Focal length 100mm
